and california, went storm warnings in effect in northern parts of state of washington and cascades over a foot of snow will be possible and mountain passes will be impacted. temperatures on the cool side in the 40s and 50. we are in the 60s across the state of california. in portions of the plains we have been enjoying a nice rebound in temperatures. 56 in minneapolis, 62 in kansas city. it's pretty nice day in the northeast, as well. 46 right now in new york city and 56 in cleveland. there was a big talk about a possible nor'easter coming up this week across portions of the northeast. that would have been a big issue but take a look at travel forecast as we head into mid-week, a big travel time of the year, we're expecting nice weather along the eastern half of the country, worldwide sunshine, it looks good as we head through the mid-week. westbound more stormy weather if northern parts of the california and in oregon and washington. >> gregg: in new york for the thanksgiving day parade, looks like a really nice day on thursday. thanks very much. >> heather: what is your favorite part of the

hour. flood watches and warnings in affect across southern oregon and northern and central california where the forecasters are warning the waves could reach up to 15'. great conditions for surfing but it is much too dangerous to swim. our chief meteorologist is for this. i have not seen anything this bad for a long-term. rick: and this is the second batch this month. we had northern areas with 10" of rain a couple weeks ago and now they are getting another 10" and maybe another 8" or 10" so big flooding concerns in central california toward lake tahoe to around santa barbara and heavy rain overnight with us all day. it will break up and we will have a reprieve for 24 hours and then we start to see this kick in. this upper level disturbance pulls in the moisture from around hawaii, a rich, tropical moisture, and it will continue. the next big bout comes in on sunday so there is a clearing and we will have heavy rain again. some spots, maybe up to 12" of rain, and it is not a cold event and we are not talking huge snow accumulation on the passes so the roads are okay toward lake tahoe

in california. what happens if the court decides not to hear this one? >> it is tricky, don, because first of all, nothing is simple to the supreme court. it depends what the court does. the court could formally reject that case, which means the lower court ruling stands, so for proposition 8, a federal appeals court already ruled that the ban which passed as a referendum by the way is unconstitutional. so the supreme court rejecting the case would basically make same sex marriage legal again in california. this is another big point, though, the supreme court could simply decide just to sit on the case, not hear it this term, not reject it either and that basically would put the decision off to a later date. and then at that time, california would just sort of be stuck in a legal limbo until the court makes a decision. >> all right. so we'll just basically what you're saying we'll have to wait and see what happens on this one, right? >> yeah. >> several cases deal with doma, the defense of marriage act, is what we're talking about. what is at the heart of those cases and how likely is it t

more free market and no state income tax. california has lost 350,000 people to texas in the past decade. texas is growing. california is a disaster. guest: it is difficult to compare. it is great to hear somebody from our home area doing well down in texas. i appreciate his call. it is difficult to try to make a comparison between the oil industry, which is a commodity based product and can get caught up into complications in the international market versus the auto industry. it is a difficult comparison. the auto restriction -- restructuring package has worked. it is inundating areas -- it is benefiting many areas. so has the position on chinese still that the president has taken that has benefited many people who work in youngstown. i would take issue with the lack of him making the argument that there is a lack of federal resources that have gone into texas. nasa has made huge investments into texas. many businesses in texas benefit from investments in the united states military. throughout the state of texas, but at many of the universities in texas. they get a boatload of mo
